Ascot Abandoned

A frozen course at Ascot has meant the distinguished fixture has been abandoned.

The grade one Clarence House Chase was the big one of the day and the in form Irish horse Un De Sceaux was the horse to beat coming in from a previous race win and the bookies shortening the odds as low as 4/7.

Unfortunately the area had been covered in frost throughout the week and as Friday approached there was a view at the course that race abandonment was imminent. Overnight temperatures fell as low as -3C.

Officials at the racecourse are now looking into when the event can be re-scheduled.
