Caravaggio Smashes It At Curragh

Caravaggio smashed it today to make it four in four at Curragh. Already on a hot streak after three previous race wins in a row, this was the first Group One of the season for two-year olds.

Bookies had rated Caravaggio at 1/8 prior to the race and there were certainly no shock surprises here. Following the result today Sky Bet have gone to cut their race odds for winning next season’s Qipco 2000 Guineas 3/1 down to 5/2.

Trainer Aiden O’Brien described the spectacular run:

“He's a very good horse and everything went 100 per cent. In his last piece of work he hit a top speed of 45 miles per hour - no horse in Ballydoyle has ever been able to do that.”

"He's very pacey and has a great mind. He's so relaxed he could get further, but I'd say we'll have a look at the Morny.

"He's the fastest we have ever had and I'd not be in a rush to go over seven furlongs. He could always go for the Middle Park after the Morny."

Still really early into his racing career Caravaggio’s future is certainly bright. Scat Daddy was the sire who also had a successful career with notable victories in the Champagne Stakes and the Florida Derby. We certainly have one to watch and we will continue to do so..
